Valentine's Day selfie!
I had made early morning Saturday plans to get coffee at Ipsento with a girlfriend and go thrifting at the Village Discount to take advantage of their President's Day half off sale. If you haven't tried Ipsento, you are missing out on one of Chicago's best coffee houses AND it just happens to be down the street from two of Chicago's best thrift stores (Village Discount & Family Thrift). Caffeine & thrifting; I can't think of a better Saturday morning! :) The Village Discount is already the cheapest thrift store in the city, but their half off sale is just insane. Basically you will be paying $1-$5 for any item in the store. It's AH-MAZING!

I hadn't put much forethought into what I was going to wear on Valentine's Day as Albert and I decided to continue our tradition of cooking a nice meal at home. Generally I plan a cute outfit for the office, but V-Day was on a Saturday this year and I now work from home, so there really wasn't a need to go out and buy something new. Albert & I decided to go out for afternoon drinks (DAY DRINKING) and appetizers to out smart the Valentine's Day crowd so I still had some fun pulling together an outfit from things I already owned. But now insert Village Discount & their half off sale. I found this vintage oxblood colored suede clutch for $1.99 (50% off) so now only $1! Besides the color being on trend for this season, I thought it would make any Valentine's Day outfit that much better.

I paired the clutch with a striped dress I got back in December from Macy's Maison Jules collection. Everyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with this brand for a few reasons: it's inexpensive (the dresses start off at $70-$90) but give Macy's a few weeks to mark everything down--this dress set me back $30. It's hard to tell from the pics, but the collar is adorned with pearls and clear rhinestones--a pretty touch that just gives this dress an elevated look. Maison Jules also is a pro at mixing prints & patterns and they aren't afraid of color. My pink belt and heart scarf are from the JCrew Factory store a few years ago and my pearl and bow Kate Spade bracelet "All Wrapped Up" was a VDay gift from my sweet boyfriend.

My heart tights are from Dorothy Perkins, this online store based in the UK. I ordered these last year and they took almost a month to get here, so they were late for Valentine's Day and I have been saving them ever since. I love the clothes on the DP website, but the sizes are ALL over the board and if you don't pay for expedited shipping, there is no time limit on how long it will take for your clothes to arrive--so never again DP! My booties are the Sam Edelman Lucille. I picked these up on the clearance rack at Nordstrom Rack ($70 retailed for $225), basically the BEST place to find discounted designer anything. Nordstrom Rack in Lincoln Park, Chicago, hands down as the best deals on shoes.
I hope you all had a memorable Valentine's Day!! <3
